Ann McGuinness is standing in the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election for the Scottish Greens.  Ann will be fighting for a better, more sustainable future for everyone in the constituency.  Ann and the dedicated team of volunteers who are out speaking to voters and listening to their concerns and hopes.

Action on Poverty:

Ann has lived experience of poverty and prioritises a strong child poverty strategy in line with the demands of charities and third sector organisations.  No child should go hungry, no child should be without clothes, books or a safe, warm home.  The Scottish Child Payment must be increased while we also look at other approaches to reduce bills, improve pay and conditions for parents and deal with structural issues that keep children in poverty.

Climate Leadership:

Ann is passionate about protecting nature and reducing fossil fuel dependence. Globally 80% of people say that their governments are not doing enough to stop climate breakdown.  While big businesses fight back, we know green energy is cheaper, green transport is more equitable, and a nature rich world is more sustainable.  We can fight climate change while creating green jobs, cleaner air, and a better future for our children.

Values-Driven Politics:

Ann champions inclusivity, equality, and diversity.  Ann sits as co-convener of the Scottish Greens Women’s Network where leads with compassion and speaks truth to power, raising all women in the party to realise their own personal potential.  She has been a long-term ally of the LGBTQI+ community and stands in solidarity with people of all marginalised people.

Proven Advocacy

Ann has demonstrated that she will hold other parties to account on key issues.  She is a passionate and driven campaigner with social justice and climate action at her core.
