Councillor update Sep/Oct 2023
It’s been a quick month since my last update. As ever, please contact me on Kirsten.robb@southlanarkshire.gov.uk to meet or chat when and where it suits you. Follow me on Facebook and X for regular updates. East Kilbride East: The highlight of the month was definitely the celebration of the new equipment at Long Calderwood Pitch. Hundreds of people came out to enjoy the National Lottery funded new goals and basketball hoops with the Caledonian Gladiators with amazing home baking by the Parent Council. This pitch is a community resource for everyone outwith school hours. The new kit comes off the back of research led by the Parent Council and me…

Councillor update Aug-Sep 2023
This month I’ve been very focussed on street work, responding to residents’ requests but also getting action off the back of pro-active street audits that the community and I did over the summer. I also met the litter officer to find out more about what’s happening with local action on litter. Thanks to everyone involved for highlighting the issues and taking action themselves to report things – you can too! Report issues to myself or customer.services@southlanarkshire.gov.uk or by calling the council customer services centre at 0303 123 1015. I also put forward a motion to assess council and councillors plans for their impact on sustainability – and it was accepted.…

Councillor Update – Summer 2023
I hope you’ve had a good summer. I’ve had a wee break but also got on with case work for you and did some street audits with the community. Please contact me to meet or chat when and where it suits you. Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates. Repairs info for residents: The last few weeks I’ve been helping an elderly homeowner to get her back step and handrail fixed – crucial for her safety and ability to get out the house. I’ve now found the council’s Community Repair Advice Service / HomeImprove who can look at the issue, no matter if you are a council tenant,…

Councillor Update, May / June 2023
It’s been another busy and enjoyable month with lots of case work helping on housing issues, maintenance and street improvements. Please contact me to meet or chat when and where it suits you. Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates. We are nearly finished delivering my ward newsletter to every home in the ward – get in touch if I can help you. Ward Action: I had a walk about with the council officer who is managing the maintenance contract at Glen Esk Park. Whilst some things have been fixed up, there are pieces of work still to be done, such as fixing the flooded paths. I am…

Here are just a few of the issues I will push for, working on your behalf.” Transport: give people better sustainable travel options, pushing for more and integrated local bus and rail services and improving the Stewartfield…

It’s now a year since many of you placed your trust in me to be your councillor. Thank you so much for doing so and for contacting me for help since then. I’m still loving the job and have worked hard to take on your issues, get answers to your questions and find solutions. Read on for some highlights of the year and what I’ve been up to recently. This month I’ve been responding to individual queries on dampness in housing, fly tipping, parking and energy bills. Contact me to meet when and where it suits you. Councillor Update, March / April 2023
Spring is finally here, the hedgerows and bluebells are about to blossom and the nights are getting longer. It’s a great time to get out and about more and enjoy the spaces and places on our doorstep in East Kilbride East. I certainly enjoyed helping out at the family outdoor play session at Glen Esk park over the recent school holidays, as part of a Get Outdoors Lanarkshire project to connect people to nature. For more inspiration check out https://www.getoutdoorslanarkshire.com/. Give me a shout if you’d like me to visit your organisation or if I can help you with anything. This month I’ve been helping people with enquiries on housing,…

There has been a slight delay to my monthly update this month as it’s been very busy both on a ward level and South Lanarkshire wide – but all good stuff, so read on! Contact me if I can help you with anything – a reminder that I don’t have surgeries in order to leave more time for community work, but I’d love to meet when and where it suits you or can come and visit your group. You can also Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates. Local Business (East Kilbride East) First up, Long Calderwood Parent Council and I have been working on an application to…

Councillor Update, January 2023
The new year has started super busy with ward case work. I’ve been helping people deal with fly tipping issues, which is a crime and costs a lot for the council (or volunteer time) to clean up. So please deal with rubbish responsibly to free up more money for essential front line services. I’ve also been dealing with quite a few queries around condensation / damp in buildings. Just contact me if I can help you with anything. Local Business (East Kilbride East) After the Long Calderwood parent council AGM, we submitted the lottery funding application for equipment for pitch – fingers crossed for that! I visited the Wingate Friendship…

Councillor Update, December 2022
After my energy efficiency motion was approved at full council in early December, I have continued to support constituents with their issues including lots of issues around housing emergencies and burst pipes with the cold snap before Christmas. Just contact me if I can help you with anything. In December I met with EK Home Carers to discuss their anger that the additional responsibilities they have taken on over the years, especially since Covid, have not been recognised as meriting an increase in the grade for the job. I support their protest and you can find out more about it here. The union will now make an appeal to the…
